this isn't going to be enough fuing series I'm with somebody telling you how you should do absolutely everything cuz even though I do have a lot of experience in the creative world and the situation you're going to be in is very different to the situation I'm going to be in one of the constants no matter where you are in the world and how you do things is that um when you're running a business you are a human who is ultimately communicating with other humans even though sometimes it doesn't feel like it especially when you're dealing with big companies cuz everyone is so Bound by what seem like completely inhumane and unreasonable policies um that can affect everything from getting contracts in the first place things like procurement processes taking months and months and months getting paid once you've been through all of that sort of stuff it it can be very painful so I want to share some of my thoughts um about the industry um and more specifically I guess some of my experiences being a professional creative as well the reason this all came about there the background to I sort of why I suddenly thought I should do this and make a series of videos based on this is because over a few weeks I found myself in a series of conversations where people who knew me volunteered me I'm to give career advice to younger people who at the very start of their creative Journeys coming from somebody who is in his 40s and has been in the industry for quite a while and more importantly is still working in the industry and still working with active clients but I'm going to be covering topics that I don't think anybody else is really touching on um in this space things like how to navigate the corporate world for a creative how to decipher some of the corporate jargon you hear a lot of and it can be incredibly confusing at the beginning of your creative career especially when you see people seemingly saying one thing doing another or vice versa um it can be very complex world to navigate and I think I can share a lot of insight into there I go the corporate speak again insights actionables takeaways despite a lot of people I think in the creative worlds assumptions not everybody who works for a large company or a big company you an accounts job or a procurement job or whatever else it might be is a corporate drone but they do get worked into these systems where they have to follow certain rules or they lose their job or they don't get their commission and you know people have got bills to pay people have got rents to make all that sort of stuff so we've got to give them a bit of leeway we got to treat people like humans so ultimately I think we got to remember that a lot of the people who we talk to in the corporate world in the business world are The Gatekeepers do the money that we need to pay our bills so you know having a really good understanding of them and what they need and what they want what helps them in their jobs and their Journeys and their companies or their smaller businesses as well because a lot of you out there will be working with smaller businesses and not huge corporations some of the other things I'll be covering my approach to business messaging my approach to corporate messaging and script writing and how I make sure that when I'm writing a script for a business or coming up with a concept for a business that we are actually sort of really um really addressing their needs as a business and not just making something that's cool and creative but doesn't do what they want for them I intend as well to share commentary on some of the things I think aren't working in the business world that I think we as creatives and the people who we work with um who we get on within the business world and who we connect within the business world can all work to make better for absolutely everybody involved everybody in the process all right I'm rambling see you soon check out the videos there'll be a playlist below it's going to be called creativity in business I think yes I already have that playlist I'm going to add stuff to it all right bye
